Reference Catalog

Project: Supplemental Direct Mail Catalog
World Almanac Education publishes and distributes books for school libraries targeting students from kindergarten through college. Every title meets high standards for quality, educational content and curriculum value.

The Challenge
World Almanac Education needed a fresh, bold look for their latest catalog of reference books for middle school, high school and college students. Considerations included ease of use, clarity of presentation, new and outstanding product features, and speed of production.

a.i. Design Group Responds
We based our design on the research focus of the books featured in the catalog. Using lined notepaper as our foundation, we built a design that mimics the notes taken during research. We chose a handwriting font to simulate handwritten notes, and used rough underlines and arrows to draw attention to specific items, much the way a student would draw attention to key items during note taking. The design was restricted to one main color per section with orange and yellow used for highlights, keeping the emphasis on the full-color images of the products.

The Result
Overall, our client was very pleased with the design and production of this key component of their marketing strategy.
