Opportunity World Almanac Education, a distributor of books to schools and libraries, gained considerable brand equity over its 30 year history. However, over time their image became dated and fragmented. Building upon their strong reputation in the industry, they sought to strengthen their brand recognition and create a more cohesive image across their extensive catalog line, while introducing value added content to their product offerings.
a.i. Design Group’s Response Retaining the familiar book and globe icon, we updated the logo with a sophisticated font and revised type arrangement. We then generated a standardized masthead to build consistency among multiple catalogs, using large, full-color photos on each cover to represent the focus of each collection.
The interior treatment of each catalog was redesigned and reorganized to make products larger and easier to find. Detailed information on all products reinforced the company’s commitment to helping busy professionals find the resources they need.
Working closely with printers and direct mail providers, we significantly reduced production costs while meeting all critical deadlines in this highly competitive market.
Result A strong, 18 year partnership gave a.i. Design valuable insight into World Almanac Education’s audience and needs. As a result, the brand received a clean, modern update within a consistent, user-friendly context. Product catalogs are immediately recognizable, product is larger and easier to locate, and positive feedback has been received from long-term customers and new users alike.
